Miike Snow in Toronto

Hot Ticket: Neon Indian & Prefuse 73, Eagles of Death Metal benefit show with Flash Lightnin', Miike Snow, Perfume Genius, D.O.A., Marco Benevento, David Choi, & more

Live music picks for WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 6 through TUESDAY OCTOBER 12, 2010.

WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 6 / FLASH LIGHTNIN / CHERRY COLAS / 200 BATHURST ST / PWYC / 19+
Flash Lightnin' hosts and headlines a benefit show tonight in hopes to raise money for Eagles of Death Metal bassist Brian O'Connor, who was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year. Admission is by donation with all proceeds going towards living and medical expenses while Brian goes through treatment in Los Angeles. Guest DJs, raffled prizes and more will also be featured throughout the night.

THURSDAY OCTOBER 7 / PERFUME GENIUS / THE DRAKE HOTEL / 1150 QUEEN ST W / $13 / 19+
Experimental and ambient singer-songwriter Mike Hadreas, aka Perfume Genius, brings his awe-inspiring live show and emotionally gripping music to The Drake Hotel on Thursday in support of his debut release Learning. Opening the night will be Toronto's own International Zombies of Love, the latest musical project from Mike Farrell of The Pariahs.

FRIDAY OCTOBER 8 / DOA / HORSESHOE TAVERN / 368 QUEEN ST W / $15 / 19+
One of hardcore punk's founding fathers, D.O.A., continue their nearly 25 year career at the Horseshoe Tavern on Friday. The Vancouver, BC natives are touring in support of their fourteenth full-length Talk-Action=0, which came out this past May, and look to take over the legendary venue with their outspoken, politically charged message.

SATURDAY OCTOBER 9 / MIIKE SNOW / KOOL HAUS / 132 QUEENS QUAY E / $30 / ALL AGES
Embrace presents Swedish indie-pop outfit, Miike Snow this Saturday at the Kool Haus. After a frenzied North American tour earlier this year that left both fans and critics clamoring for more, Andrew Wyatt, Christian Karlsson and Pontus Winnberg make their return to Toronto, this time with local MC Isis Salam (formerly of Thunderheist) and Hamilton's New Look. MONDAY OCTOBER 11 / DAVID CHOI / EL MOCAMBO / 464 SPADINA AVE / $15 / 19+
YouTube sensation, David Choi brings his poppy singer-songwriter style in front of a live Toronto audience this Monday in support of his sophomore album By My Side. Choi is quite the accomplished songwriter, even garnering the attention of David Bowie back in 2004, and is slowly, yet surely establishing himself as legitimate artist.

TUESDAY OCTOBER 12 / NEON INDIAN / LEE'S PALACE / 529 BLOOR ST W / $15 / 19+
Lead by composer Alan Palomo, Neon Indian bring their danceable electronic indie grooves to Lee's Palace on Tuesday for a concert presented by Embrace. Also playing that night will be Brooklyn-based electro-pop trio Class Actress and Scott Herren aka Prefuse 73. Keep an eye on BlogTO's facebook page for your chance to win tickets...
