WEDNESDAY JULY 7 / THE ZOOBOMBS / VELVET UNDERGROUND / 510 QUEEN ST W / $9 / 19+
Japanese funk-rock quartet The Zoobombs return to Toronto, this time headlining the Velvet Underground. Having previously recorded multiple live albums in the city, The Zoobombs are no stranger to the local scene and to prove it, they've called up three Toronto-based bands to open up for them: The Ghost is Dancing, Whale Tooth and Revolvers.

THURSDAY JULY 8 / D-SISIVE ALBUM RELEASE PARTY / EL MOCAMBO / 464 SPADINA AVE / $10 / 19+
D-Sisive will be joined by special guests Buck 65 and King Reign to celebrate the release of Vaudeville, the third full length album he has released in the past fourteen months. The show starts at 9pm sharp, and features opening performances from K-Dot O-Dot, The Von Drats, Chokeules and Timbuktu, with music supplied by Dirtyman and DJ Law.

The Flaming Lips always deliver a trippy experience for their devout fans, and their headlining performance at the Molson Amphitheatre on Thursday night will surely be no exception. Wayne Coyne and company are bringing along a trio of fantastic indie rock bands to support them: Texas' Spoon, Newmarket's Tokyo Police Club and Rhode Island's Fang Island, featuring four former members of spastic mathcore outfit Daughters.

FRIDAY JULY 9 / KID KOALA & THE SLEW / HARBOURFRONT SIRIUS STAGE / 235 QUEENS QUAY / FREE / ALL AGES
Kid Koala & The Slew are the headlining act of the opening night of the 2010 edition of the Beats, Breaks & Culture Festival, presented by NOW magazine and Smirnoff. The show is called 6 Turntables Meet the Ex-Wolfmother Rhythm Section. In addition to being backed by a Grammy award winning rhythm section, Montreal-based turntablist Kid Koala will be joined by DJ Dynomite D. Get there for 8pm to catch an opening set from British indie/soul rockers The Heavy.

FRIDAY JULY 9 - SATURDAY JULY 10 / ROCK THE COLISEUM 2010 / YOUTH STAGE @ LIVING ARTS CENTRE / 4141 LIVING ARTS CENTRE DR (MISSISSAUGA) / FREE / ALL AGES
Mississauga's free all-ages music festival Rock The Coliseum is back for its fifth consecutive year, offering two days of outdoor music from 3pm until 11pm. The festival kicks off on Friday with sets from The Junction, The Balconies, Dinosaur Bones, Make Your Exit, Sandman Viper Command and more. Saturday will feature performances from Welland's Attack in Black, Winnipeg's Sights and Sounds
Hamilton's Monster Truck, Kosmograd, Gentlemen Husbands and Dance Electric, amongst others. For the full line-up, check out the facebook event page.

SATURDAY JULY 10 / OPTICAL SOUNDS ANNIVERSARY PARTY / 225 STERLING RD (map) / $10 / 19+
Toronto's premier psych label Optical Sounds celebrate their second anniversary with a "late night rock and roll rager" at the Sterling Lofts this Saturday. The music kicks off at 9pm with a set from The Auras, followed by Montreal's Vicious Delicious, Planet Creature, NYC's Your 33 Black Angels, local psych rockers The Hoa Hoa's and Montreal's Postcards. DJ Davy Love and DJ Kevin will handle the music in between sets, while General Chaos will provide the lighting. Entry is only $10, the show is BYOB and smoking inside will be encouraged.

SUNDAY JULY 11 / POP, LOCK & LOAD BREAK DANCE COMPETITION / HARBOURFRONT REDPATH + SIRIUS STAGES / 235 QUEENS QUAY / FREE / ALL AGES
Now entering its seventh year, the Pop Lock & Load competition offers dancers from all over the globe a shot at competing for $800 in a break dancing battle like no other. Organized and hosted by Benzo (one of the founders of the Canadian Bag of Trix), the competition will be judged by a panel of artists and spectators from the crowd. The competition kicks off at 2:30pm at the Redpath Stage. If you're looking to learn the basics of break dancing, Benzo will be hosting an introductory class after the competition at the Lakeside Terrace at the Harbourfront Centre, from 6:30pm - 7:30pm.

MONDAY JULY 12 / THE SWELL SEASON / QUEEN ELIZABETH THEATRE / CNE GROUNDS / $39.50-$42.50 / ALL AGES
The Swell Season are the folk rock duo of Irishman Glen Hansard and Czech singer Marketa Irglova, and they'll be stopping by the Queen Elizabeth Theatre on Monday night in support of their 2009 LP Strict Joy. Get there early to catch an opening set from local singer/songwriter Peter Katz, whose debut album First of the Last to Know features guest spots from Hansard, Melissa McClelland and The Good Lovelies.

TUESDAY JULY 13 / BOOKIE'S NU MUSIC NITE / HORSESHOE TAVERN / 368 QUEEN ST W / FREE / 19+
This week, Bookie's weekly free Nu Music Night at the Horseshoe features Dark Mean, Colleen Brown, Wild Life and Shagbots.
