Leslie & the Ly's began as an open mic trio in Iowa before releasing their debut effort Gold Pants in 2005. In the years since, Leslie has been featured in Vice magazine and VH1, decked out in gem sweaters and gold spandex outfits to match her own unique brand of electro-dance-rap. Christopher the Conquered is the sole opening act, fresh off the release of their LP You're Gonna Glow in the Dark.

TUESDAY FEBRUARY 16 / BASIA BULAT / SOUNDSCAPES / 572 COLLEGE ST / FREE / ALL AGES
Less than a month after the release of her sophomore album Heart of My Own, Basia Bulat will play a stripped down in-store set at Soundscapes before departing for a lengthy bout of touring that will see the songstress heading out to Vancouver and back again, with stops across Canada and the U.S. including four shows at the high profile SXSW festival in Austin, Texas.

WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 17 / PWYC WEDS: THE CAUTIONEERS / RANCHO RELAXO / 300 COLLEGE ST / PWYC / 19+
Wednesday night's weekly PWYC show at Rancho features "experimental spastic electro hip-hop duo" Croctupus, newcomers The Bensons (featuring Eric Easson Hummel of Parks & Rec) and indie pop/rock quintet The Cautioneers (video below).

THURSDAY FEBRUARY 18 / DAEDELUS + NOSAJ THING / WRONGBAR / 1279 QUEEN SW W / $13.50 / 19+
Experimental producer Daedelus headlines Wrongbar on Thursday night with L.A. noise conductor Nosaj Thing and Jogger. Daedelus is Alfred Weisberg Roberts, a formally trained jazz musician who creates sample-heavy electronica music with hints of everything from hip hop to indie rock thrown in the mix. Recently, Alfred has also been performing alongside his wife Laura Darlington as the lo-fi folk duo The Long Lost, but Thursday night's show will be a solo affair.

SATURDAY FEBRUARY 20 / PEOPLE UNDER THE STAIRS / OPERA HOUSE / 735 QUEEN ST E / $17.50 / 19+
Underground L.A. hip-hip duo People Under the Stairs stop by the Opera House on Saturday night for a rescheduled show. Tickets from the previously announced date of January 30 will be honoured at the doors, and they'll be joined by Rapper Big Pooh (one half of acclaimed NC hip-hop duo Little Brother), Justis and Mantis.

SATURDAY FEBRUARY 20 / LA CASA MUERTE & THE SCHOMBERG FAIR / HORSESHOE TAVERN / 368 QUEEN ST W / $8 / 19+
For those in the mood for something a little more rock and roll on their Saturday night, head over to the Shoe for an incredible show featuring Windsor's The Magic Hall of Mirrors (featuring members of The Golden Hands Before God) followed by local acts The Diableros, The Schomberg Fair and a headline set from La Casa Muerte, who were recently featured on the Line of Best Fit's Oh! Canada 7 compilation, available for free download.

SUNDAY FEBRUARY 21 / EL PERRO DEL MAR / MOD CLUB / 722 COLLEGE ST / $15 / 19+
Swedish pop sensation El Perro Del Mar returns to Toronto on Sunday night for a show at the Mod Club alongside Taken By Trees, the moniker of former Concretes singer Victoria Bergsman. EPDM, real name Sarah Assbring, was recently remixed by European pop superstar Robyn - check out 'Change of heart (Rakamonie Remix). (MP3)

MONDAY FEBRUARY 22 / WILD BEASTS / HORSESHOE TAVERN / 368 QUEEN ST W / $15 / 19+
Wild Beasts are a slightly offbeat quartet from Leeds, England. Signed to Domino Records, the group have been praised by the UK music press (NME, Drowned in Sound), with their sophomore effort Two Dancers even ranking in the top 50 on NME's top albums of the decade list. Despite critical acclaim overseas, they've yet to make much of a splash this side of the Atlantic. Local Arts & Crafts rockers Still Life Still are the lone opening act at the Horseshoe Tavern, where the UK band will strive to make a name for themselves in Toronto.

TUESDAY FEBRUARY 23 / NU MUSIC NITE: PROTOZOANS / HORSESHOE TAVERN / 368 QUEEN ST W / FREE / 19+
This Tuesday, Dave Bookman's free Nu Music Nite at the Horseshoe kicks off with Montreal psych folk-rockers Final Flash at 9:10, catchy pop perfectionists Johnny Major at 10, Vancouver's Billy the Kid at 10:50 and a headline set from Protozoans at 11:40. Formed just a few years ago by Reade Ollivier, Thursday night's show sees Protozoans celebrating the release of their first 7" single - '$' backed with 'Enemy Lane.'
