Toronto New Year's Eve 2010

Hot Ticket (NYE Edition): The Sadies, Elliott Brood, Gentleman Reg, The Creepshow, & More...

New Year's Eve live music picks in Toronto, as we say goodbye to 2009 and hello to 2010.

THE SADIES & RON SEXSMITH / HORSESHOE TAVERN / 368 QUEEN ST W / $20 / 19+
THE SADIES headline the Horseshoe Tavern for their 9th annual NYE show, taking the stage at 11:30pm after sets from RON SEXSMITH and THE SCHOMBERG FAIR. Roots-rock three-piece THE SCHOMBERG FAIR just released their sophomore effort Gospel this past October, a collection of banjo-heavy tunes played at a breakneck pace. The SADIES are led by brothers Travis and Dallas Good, and their longstanding NYE bash at the Shoe boasts a packed house every year.

Showcasing some of our picks for best bands in 2009, the line-up is stacked with local talent and promises to be an incredible night. While advance tickets are sold out the Tranzac promises a limited batch will be available at the door, so make sure to get there before 8 if you expect to get in.

ELLIOTT BROOD / LEE'S PALACE / 529 BLOOR ST W / $20 / 19+
For an alt-country take on New Year's Eve, head to Lee's Palace where $100 will open up for ELLIOTT BROOD. After touring hard in 2009, ELLIOTT BROOD celebrate the arrival of 2010 by playing two sets at Lee's - at 11:30pm and 1am. The Polaris nominated trio keep their annual tradition alive, offering a much needed alternative to the wildly popular SADIES NYE shows at the Shoe.
