Drake's Party in a Box

Last week The Drake Hotel celebrated the end of the year hosting a great five day music series that made the holiday break a little warmer. What's in the Box featured an outstanding lineup of musicians and DJs from different genres, showcasing a nice melting pot of some of the best acts of 2007.

I attended day one and three, and both nights got out of control (in a good way).

On day one I was impressed with the heavy beats of Ghislain Poirier which reminded me of some other music that I love by Modeselektor (I later found out Poirier has done remixes for them). But the headliner that night was Scratch Bastid who closed out the night with one of his always bumping and fun sets.

On day three Bonjay far exceeded my expectations. I'd never seen them live before and they threw a solid set that made the crowd go nuts. Then Thunderheist managed to step it up a notch and brought the crowd crammed into the Drake Underground not far from something resembling mayhem.
