Hot Ticket for the Week of June 12 - June 18

Your blogTO music staff sure hopes that it's a case of "better late than never" for this week's Hot Ticket. We're a day late, with only NXNE on the brain as an excuse. But on to the goods:

Put the south in your mouth Friday with the southern-fried white trash mock & roll of White Cowbell Oklahoma. Because everyone can use more cowbell (and chainsaws, bad girls, and police brutality). Wear your rain slicker and leave the kids at home, things are gonna get R-rated & messy. Friday June 16th @ Lee's Palace (529 Bloor St. West), 11 pm, $13. -- Beth

Phatt Al throws his weight around with an acoustic hip-hop set this Tuesday at the Trane (964 Bathurst). He'll likely be performing cuts off his recently released Transistor album. 9pm, $5. -- Ryan

Sub Pop's Band of Horses are a very talented gloomy-sounding alternative band from Seattle. Good breakup songs; check out 'The Great Salt Lake' on their myspace page. Tuesday June 12th @ Lee's Palace, 10 pm, $10. -- MikeR

Spinna's been around. Several times. But he ain't no flash-in-the-pan hip hop act that'll be gone before you can say DJ Kool, nor is the roof presently over his head made of gimmicks and bad reality TV (*cough*BizMarkie*cough*). Nope, Spinna's still kickin and his client list reads like a who's who of fine music. Remixes for Nightmares on Wax, De La and Soulstice. Production credits for Guru and J Live. When the clock strikes 12 this Saturday, expect some solid beats. Hip hop's where he's from, but electro, funk, Latin and jazz are also happy to play. Saturday, June 17, Sunnyside Pavillion (1755 Lakeshore Blvd), $20 advance or online at Milk. -- Panthea
