Revkor Junction
Revkor is a 4,000- square foot loft studio in the Junction Triangle that promises to rebuild your body with resistance training using suspension bands.
Part of a chain of studios, this inaugural Toronto location has about four classes each day including revYOGA, a stability-based class, and revMIX, a high intensity workout.
The Revkor experience is fun, welcoming and very sweaty. Don’t let the 50-minute express name fool you. It’s difficult and wonderfully unique.
The suspension bands that hang from the ceiling are there to challenge you as you build up to varying levels of difficulty with the intent to work every party of your body.
The bands allow you to squat deeper, jump higher and move quicker from side-to-side.
An instructor sweats along with you as they guide you through the different exercises.
The bands, which hang from a ceiling, are made to be mixed and matched based on how much weight and intensity you want to add.
The revMIX workout is an experience of truly pushing yourself for 45 or 60 minutes. It’s two totally different workouts, with the same goal – to strengthen you and leave no muscle behind.
The revYOGA class is slower with more controlled exercises that still use the hanging resistance bands. The room is dimly lit, with gentle music playing, as you steadily work your triceps and oblique and glide into a downward dog.
The lounge area showcases products available including Revkor’s exclusive apothecary made by Purdy Naturals in London, and jewellery by Rocking Vibe.
There are two showers and a change room, but my favourite thing about Revkor – apart from the booty-kicking 45 minute express class – is the sitting area where you can hang out before or after class.
