In a new partnership with UKAI Projects, MG takes over The Bridge with a night of electronic-centered free jazz.

For night four of X Avant XIX: TeXture we dive into the dark and mysterious corners of electronic sounds. Chicago’s Hieroglyphic Being takes on his flavor of electronic free-jazz in a homage to Jon Hassell and Silver Apples with a live set blurring lines and senses. There will also be the Toronto premiere of his new experimental film.

Opening the night is LJ’s Geen Galena, an up-and-coming free improv artist who is known for their experimentation and expression. Following is Juanito, a Toronto local known for experimental glitch beats, leftfield and ambient downtempo, and deconstructed reggaeton and cumbia. His sound explores tensions, ambiguities, and deconstructions questioning norms and identity.

Closing out the night is a session from two of Toronto’s baddest DJs, Kaspr and 999adj. Given the task of ‘playing whatever they want’ and ‘getting OUT,’ boundaries of sounds and noises will be pushed, played with, and tested.
