Derrick Brown is making his Toronto Poetry Slam debut on April 15 and you'll want to check out the incredible poetry from the founder of Write Bloody Publishing.

Bio of feature poet:
Derrick C. Brown is a novelist, comedian, poet, and storyteller. He is the winner of the 2013 Texas Book of The Year award for Poetry. He is a former Paratrooper for the 82nd Airborne and is the owner and president of Write Bloody Publishing, which Forbes and Filter Magazine call “...one of the best independent poetry presses in the country.” He is the author of eight books of poetry and three children’s books. The New York Times calls his work, “...a rekindling of faith in the weird, hilarious, shocking, beautiful power of words.” He lives in Los Angeles, California.

ACCESSIBILITY INFO:

The Drake Hotel has 1 step at the front door on Queen St. W. There are no steps and a button to open the door on the west side of the building on Beaconsfield. To get from the lobby to the Underground, there are 19 steps to the doors/bar level, then 4 steps leading from the bar area to where the chairs are setup. Bathrooms are back on the same level as the bar in the Underground. A wheelchair accessible, gender neutral washroom is on the main lobby level.
