Toronto Cherry Blossom Planting Ceremony

A special planting ceremony of the new trees will be held at Hillside Gardens in High Park on April 28 (Sun.) at noon. The Japanese Government is donating the new Sakura to Toronto to mark the 60th anniversary of the 1959 Sakura donation by the citizens of Metropolitan Tokyo to High Park, now a tremendously popular location among Torontonians for viewing cherry blossoms in springtime.  The new tree donation also commemorates the commencement of Japan’s Reiwa Era with the enthronement of His Majesty the Emperor Naruhito of Japan. A total of 17 trees will be planted among High Park, Trinity Bellwoods Park and Cedarvale Park.
