Teenage Kicks

Dir. Craig Boreham

Australia 2016 100:00

Teenage Kicks "confronts the topsy-turvy world of adolescence with a deeply compelling style and spirit" The Guardian.

Mikls Miles Szanto, Love My Way is at the age when everything feels high-stakes. He is coming to terms with his own sexuality, and when his best friend Dan Daniel Webber, 11.22.63 reveals that he has a new girlfriend, it puts an end to their plans to run away together. He is torn between loyalty to his migrant family and his own desires, and his world is soon rocked by the death of his brother Tommy, that he feels partly responsible for. Teenage Kicks beautifully captures this whirlwind period in Mikls' life, dealing with themes of guilt, friendship, cultural and familial loyalty, and burgeoning sexuality. Craig Boreham's unique voice is an exciting addition to Australian queer cinema. Teenage Kicks is based from Borehams 2009 short film, Drowning Inside Out's 2011 Toronto LGBT Film and Video Festival.
