SlowPitchSound, Myst Milano, Charise Aragoza
PWYC! Handlebar presents a night of experimental hip-hop, sci-fi turntablism, and loop-based ambient explorations featuring master of the genre SlowPitchSound, on-fire electronic hip-hop artist Myst Milano, and ambient pop manipulator Charise Aragoza.
“A woozy, hallucinogenic broth of deconstructionist hip-hop oomph, ominous future-dub drones and disorienting down-tempo fractures.” - Ben Rayner, Toronto Star
“An otherworldly tumble down the rabbit hole of downtempo instrumental hip-hop.” - THUMP
Cheldon Paterson aka SlowPitchSound has been developing his own style of sci-fi turntablism over 20 years and 7 studio albums, with countless live performances including appearances at the Wavelength Festival, Long Winter, and MUTEK. Together with longtime collaborator and legendary Toronto dancer Lybido, SlowPitchSound's shows combine improvised music, dance and projected visuals to create a truly one of a kind performance.
“Whether it’s rapping at DIY punk shows to DJing larger, more corporate, gigs like AGO First Thursdays, this musical chameleon stays true to her art by relying on herself to get the results that she wants.” - Yohomo
Hot off the release of her new EP Kali Ma, Myst Milano has been tearing up Toronto stages since she arrived from Edmonton two years ago. Cutting-edge electronic hip-hop with an experimental streak.
Beautifully celestial loop-based ambient pop from Charise of HATAW, Luna Li, and Mother Tongues.
