Laced with Puppetmongers’ inimitable humour and delightful storytelling, and with a plot featuring entitled royals, an upstairs/ downstairs romance, an epic journey and inter-generational misunderstandings, this is a tale with a heart-warming resolution that appeals to all generations. Directed by Sue Miner, Bed & Breakfast brings history to life, challenges gender and social class stereotypes, and celebrates patience, perseverance and problem solving, both in the characters in the story and in the 7 years it took to create the splendidly detailed set, puppets and props. Bed & Breakfast has twice earned Dora Mavor Moore Award nominations for Outstanding Production in the Theatre for Young Audiences Division, it was shortlisted for the Chalmers Award for New Canadian Play, and it has received a Citation for Excellence in the Art of Puppetry from l’Union International de la Marionette-USA.
