October Community Weekend
This Community Weekend at MOCA, we invite people of all ages to explore contemporary art through hands-on workshops, including an introductory beadwork class. Families with younger children can enjoy a storytime circle on Sunday and kid-friendly tours all weekend long.
Saturday Artist-led Workshop: Beading with Katie Longboat
Join MOCA on Saturday for a beading art workshop led by artist Katie Longboat. This three-hour workshop is inspired by Diaries After a Flood, an exhibition of works by artist Michael Nicoll Yahgulanaas and the vibrant installations of Alex Da Corte. Recommended for youth and adults, the workshop will focus on skill-building and hands-on art-making, where participants will create a small beaded piece.
All children must be accompanied by an adult. Registration required.
TD Community Sunday
This TD Sunday, join us for a storytime circle in the museum! MOCA’s Art Educators will be reading a series of children’s books aloud in the exhibition space, taking inspiration from the playful and colourful artworks in Alex Da Corte’s exhibition”Ear Worm”. Following the reading, participants will be invited to participate in a workshop and respond to drawing prompts inspired by the art, and explore the other exhibitions with kid-friendly museum tours at 1pm & 3 pm.
