Nosferatu with The Invincible Czars

Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror — a 1922 expressionist nightmare by German director F W Murnau gets a live score thanks to Austin’s most adventurous band, The Invincible Czars in their only Toronto appearance.

Using a mix of acoustic and electric instruments, sound effects and vocals, this entirely original score has gotten rave reviews for complementing the dark tone of F.W. Murnau's film, reviving the terror that original audiences felt in 1922.

A close retelling of the Dracula legend has the mysterious count Orlock (played by the equally mysterious actor Max Schreck) summoning Thomas Hutter to his remote Transylvanian castle. The eerie and rat like Orlok is seeking to buy a house in the city that Hutter and his wife lives. Hutter soon realizes the full horror and struggles to get back to his wife before the undead vampire can spread his evil over the land.

Co-presented by the Toronto Silent Film Festival
