Why is this happening?

After an intense and worsening pain around her vocal cords reached an extreme, Georgia Webber spent several months in near-silence, speaking only 15-30 minutes a day to rest her voice and recover. She documented the experience in her comics series, Dumb, but her fascination with the voice continues through this event series and beyond.
