Maker Friday: Bright Signs
Join us for this free pop-up art-making event, inspired by Khalil Joseph’s powerful 2016 cinematic installation Wild Cat (Aunt Janet), featured in Bright Signs at the AGO. This immersive three-channel video piece pays tribute to the vibrant legacy of the African American rodeo that takes place every summer in Grayson (formerly Wildcat), Oklahoma.
In this hands-on workshop in the AGO's Walker Court, participants will create their own shadow puppets, drawing from the rich cultural themes and visual storytelling of Joseph’s work. We will explore the interplay of light, shadow, and narrative as we bring artistic visions to life.
