Katrina Schaman is excited to debut her new series of work in her first showing at Black Cat Artspace. In this solo exhibition — Quilted Escape — the artist celebrates the underlying relationship between abstract and recognizable forms while exploring the balance between fantasy and reality.

With her landscape paintings, Katrina hopes to create a sense of nostalgia in her viewers that allows their imaginations to thrive. She paints our embellished memories, feelings, and imaginings, instead of the established reality we typically see.

This will be Katrina’s first showing since a devastating studio fire destroyed over 6 months of her work as well as all of her tools, supplies, and studio belongings. It’s been a difficult yet incredibly rewarding journey to this point and she is very happy to invite you to be a part of it.
