It Takes A Village Walking Tour
Discover the stories of Toronto’s 2SLGBTQ+ community — from advocacy fuelled by the Bathhouse Raids and the AIDS epidemic, to the belonging and celebration found at the City Park Apartments, Buddies in Bad Times Theatre and St. Charles Tavern. Learn about efforts to strengthen the Church-Wellesley Village today and build the community for the future.
This Heritage Toronto tour runs rain or shine and lasts approximately 90 minutes. Please wear comfortable walking shoes and consider bringing sunscreen and water to make your tour as enjoyable as possible.
This tour uses individual audio headsets. All registered participants will be provided with an individual headset that will allow you to hear the tour guide throughout the tour.
This tour was co-developed and will be led by an emerging historian. Learn more about how Heritage Toronto is empowering the next generation of heritage advocates with our Emerging Historians Program.
You will not be able to join a tour group if you have not registered ahead of time through our website (see below). To offset the cost of administering and sanitizing our audio headset equipment, a $20 fee is required for this tour and must be paid in advance when registering.
If you share our passion for accessible and inclusive heritage programming, we invite you to make a donation while participating on this tour. Cash and contactless payment methods will be available and charitable tax receipts will be issued for donations of $20 or more.
