Intersectional Go Topless March

Celebrate the official Go Topless Day with an intersectional march that welcomes all gender identities from 2pm-5pm.

Thanks to Gwen Jacob,woman-identified folks won the legal right to be topless in Ontario in 1996. However, many people do not exercise this legal right, due to sexual harassment and the potential threat of sexual/physical violence.

Today, get something off your chest, including your shirts! This march will celebrate a legal victory but will also protest sexual harassment. We encourage all participants to embrace Topfreedom within a group setting, ensuring more safety in numbers.

At 2pm, participants may congregate outside of Oasis Aqualounge (beside the parking lot, against the building mural) for a pre-march rally of sign-making. Water and light snacks and sign making materials will be provided.

At 3pm, the march will be lead by Marketing Director Fatima Mechtab and the Oasis AquaFlirts. The route will travel down Yonge Street to Yonge/Dundas where we will take up space with chanting, noise makers and dancing in the square.

The route will then continue to Yonge/Queen and will eventually head back up to Carleton/Mutual.

We encourage everyone to bring their friends and families; women and trans folks to the front. Please feel free to bring drums, whistles, signs and/or anything else that makes you feel empowered.
