Gord Bond - "Clutter, Chaos and Confusion"

Clutter, Chaos and Confusion

Recently returned from his self-imposed artist-in-residence at a Ridgewood, New York AirBnB, Gord Bond is excited to present “Clutter, Chaos and Confusion” a show featuring his new body of drawings and paintings at Blackcat Art Space. While in New York, Gord turned his focus towards his drawing practice, filling a sketch book with 80 new and exciting drawings.

During his time exploring New York City, Gord became increasingly interested in the piles of litter that would collect on the sidewalks, streets and railways. These pieces of trash didn’t share anything other than being cast aside, yet they seemed to tell stories. Using this unlikely source of inspiration, Gord began creating complex compositions bringing together a variety of unrelated objects, figures and animals with the intent of creating unexpected, absurd and often humorous narratives.

These drawings are the inspiration for 4 new paintings which further explore the ideas of mark making, collage and story telling. The drawings have also been replicated in the form of a limited edition catalogue for the show. There will be only 10 catalogues available each numbered, signed and featuring a unique hand drawn sketch by Gord Bond.
