Get Reel Film Fest: Opening Night

Join us for the opening night of the Get Reel Film Fest by Stella's Place.

To kick off the week's events, we will be premiering three original shorts exploring themes of mental health and identity. The lineup includes a deeply relatable comedy about insomnia, an animation about a Canadian immigrant's relationship with her cultural identity, and a drama about a woman separated from her family and struggling with PTSD after fleeing the war in Ukraine.

Each film has been commissioned by Get Reel as part of the Emerging Artist Scholarship program.

ABOUT GET REEL

Get Reel Film Festival is an exciting event that leverages the medium of film to encourage conversation, compassion, and connection through honest stories of experiences with mental health. It's run by Stella's Place, a community-based organization offering free mental health care services to young adults ages 16-29 in Toronto.

Get Reel's mission is to spark conversation, break down stigma, raise awareness, and encourage help-seeking. It also supports emerging Canadian talent through the Emerging Artist Scholarship program, which awards young filmmakers a grant to create films exploring themes of mental health.
