Embody Retreat Description:
Embodiment is a concept that recognizes the intricate connection between our bodies and minds. Embodiment techniques help us to become mindfully aware of the sensations in our body so that we can self-regulate our nervous system into its natural state of harmony.
Somatic self-care practices empower us to listen to the messages of our body and to take care of our needs. In this day-long retreat, you will learn how to recognize the different states of your nervous system and practice tools and techniques for self-regulation. Sehr and Eva will take you through guided meditations, gentle movement/yoga, and self-reflective practices to help you become more present in your body.
We will collectively increase our understanding of the human stress response and develop individual maps of our own nervous systems. Whether you are experiencing stress, anxiety, grief/loss or burnout, you will leave with practical somatic tools and exercises that can help you to navigate these emotional states.
About your Facilitators:
Eva Still (MSW, Certified Grief Educator, Yoga Therapist, and Grief Yoga® teacher), and Sehr Athar (MSW/RSW, psychotherapist, yoga educator/teacher and Reiki practitioner) met while completing our Masters of Social Work at the University of Toronto in 2006. Since then, our journeys have taken us on different paths, Eva to Colombia where she offers yoga therapy for grief and Sehr to her psychotherapy practice in Toronto, and we have reconnected around our mutual passion for supporting individuals through difficult times using practices that connect physical and emotional experiences.
