Designing the Movies: BULLITT

The movie that revolutionized the Hollywood car chase tears up the big screen!

Things go wrong when San Francisco police lieutenant Frank Bullitt (Steve McQueen) is assigned to keep a Mafia informant alive over the weekend. The cat and mouse that ensues as he evades and chases mob hitmen influenced the course of Hollywood action movies by adding both speed and thrilling realism. Star Steve McQueen did most of his own driving—including getting behind the wheel of the iconic Ford Mustang GT for the legendary, nearly 11-minute car chase through the streets of San Francisco. Bullitt made Hollywood history, and then it won the Academy Award winner for Best Film Editing - so between the cars, the grind and thrum of shifting gears, and the score by Lalo Schifrin (Mission: Impossible), we can’t wait to see the 1968 classic on the big screen. Presented with an introduction by series host Nathalie Atkinson. $17/$14
