Featuring Toronto's favorite latin percussive trio Baob.

Baob is a trio formed by Torontos top female percussionists that take traditional beats to the next level. Empowered by the natural musicality that flows from South American bodies, Anita Graciano, Y Josephine, Mari Palhares representing Colombia, Venezuela and Brazil respectively, demonstrate a great mix. Ideal balance of voice, melody and instrumentation.

When the group started in 2015 the dynamic was clear. The members study different drumming rhythms from various backgrounds and then follow to influence one another into shaping what has been taught into a new lesson. Although this project might appear recent, Anita, Y and Mari, planted this Baob seed way back on the common grounds of friendship and continuous arts making.

The group performs mostly original songs, old school latin cover hits, Cumbia, Salsa, Funk, Afro-Brazilian/Colombian/Venezuelan and many other Latin-inspired rhythms. Definitely a crowd pleaser.

Baque de Bamba is a Brazilian percussion group based in Toronto, founded in 2009 by the notable Brazilian artist and Juno Nominee Aline Morales; leader of the former Maracatu group Nunca Antes. We perform Afro-rhythms originated in the northeast of Brazil, mostly in the city of Recife.Our main focus is on the Maracatu de Baque Virado style, however, we also perform other percussive styles like Coco, Ciranda and Ijex.
