Art Spin August Tour

Art Spin August 24th - The Port Lands

2017 Season along the waterfront: portage to portlands

Join us to wrap up our 9th season of curated bicycle-led art tours across Toronto on Thursday, August 24th by presenting four newly commissioned, site-specific works around the Toronto Port Lands, presented in partnership with Waterfront Toronto.

With Lake Ontarios water levels along Torontos waterfront at record highs, eroding beaches, and threatening human made barriers that try to contain this massive freshwater sea, Art Spin has chosen to focus this summers programming in and around the citys waterfront.

Art Spins 2017 programming has stretched from the Humber River in the west in June, all the way to the Don River and the Port Lands in the east, exploring both the citys troubled relationship to its lake and the exciting ways in which that relationship is evolving.

As part of the thrill and mystery of the Art Spin experience, specific details about the programming and their locations will be kept secret until the day of each individual tour. The upcoming Port Lands tour will feature new works by the Deaf Culture Centre, a dance performance by Erin Poole and Christianne Ullmark, and a project by Vanessa Brazeau presented in partnership with Myseum of Toronto. Along the course of the tour attendees can also experience a nomadic project by our artist in roving residency Daniel Rotsztain, as well as musical accompaniment from DJ General Eclectic and his Boom Bike. The tour will be led by the ever affable and vivacious emcee Shamez Amlani.

ABOUT ART SPIN TOURS:

Art Spin is a roving curatorial project that situates commissioned, site-specific works in unique public spaces throughout the city. Each Art Spin tour gathers a large audience on bicycles to visit the multidisciplinary installations and performances in a one-of-a-kind event. With few details released beforehand, Art Spin tours ask you to trust the curators and allow yourselves to be surprised by both the creative programming and the unusual spaces to which they lead you.
