In the world where foundations are shifting, where even the seasons have become less distinct, we mark the start of spring with movement, mobilizing ourselves toward an unseen goal.

Our headliner is the Toronto-based DJ Yung Bambii. Fresh off a tour with Mykki Blanco, Bambiis playlists have been featured in Fader and Thump. Shes played sets and headlined parties both underground and international, and is supported by members of Yes Yes YAll collective, who are staging a First Thursday takeover in Walker Court and Galleria Italia. For the past seven years, Yes Yes Y'all has merged hip-hop and dancehall and sweaty queer bodies, creating one of the most inclusive parties in the city.

The night features artist projects by dancer-choreographer Zoja Smutny, whose project Ros Porn comes to the AGO after presentations at Torontos Dancemakers, Montreals Darling Foundry and Night Gallery in Los Angeles. Ros Porn is a hybrid performative installation existing between dance, cinema, installation, merchandising, music, and environmental design. While Smutnys practice is about articulating the moments of presence, Torontos Erika DeFreitas work deals with memory and erasure, and the way histories seep into the present. Erika is the recent recipient of John Hartman award from the MacLaren Art Centre, and is currently part of the exhibition All That is Left Unsaid / at the very point where words fail us with Michele Person Clark at Centre [3] for Print and Media Arts in Hamilton.

These projects are joined by hands-on collective art projects, pop-up talks on the theme with artists and thinkers, including Hooded Fangs April Aliermo, a special collection of artwork on display in our monthly Out of the Vaults installation, an artist-designed program edition, and delicious food and drinks. Move with us into spring at the AGO.
