Acts of Faith

Returning by popular demand! Following its World Premiere last Fall which set a new standard for digital theatre production, Factory Theatre is proud to announce the return of acts of faith, written by multi-award winning playwright David Yee, Directed by Nina Lee Aquino and starring Natasha Mumba. This whirlwind play written exclusively for digital presentation will be rebroadcasted for nine performances between October 20 – 23, 2021 with a wide ranging variety of performance times so that audiences around the globe will be able to tune in from their respective time zones. Admission will once again be offered completely free of charge for audiences thanks to the support of TD Bank Group.

From the African Copperbelt to the back woods of Muskoka, acts of faith tells a story about the power of belief, the disillusionment of youth and the eternal struggle between good and evil. The story follows Faith, a young woman who gets mistaken for a prophet. When a revered religious leader attempts to take advantage of her plight, she begins using her ‘gift’ to right wrongs and punish the wicked. Far from home, Faith will come up against the ultimate test of her convictions in a final confrontation between sin and sainthood, morality and godliness.

Factory is also pleased to offer a performance with audio commentary from the acts of faith creative team! Audiences registered to see acts of faith on Friday October 22 @ 7:30PM EST will have the option to watch the show with audio commentary from Director Nina Lee Aquino and members of the design team as they take audiences behind the scenes and into the process of how acts of faith was created for digital presentation. A stream of the performance without audio commentary will also be available at this performance for audiences.

Admission is free of charge, however audiences will have to register in advance on Factory’s website to secure a spot for their preferred performance night (https://www.factorytheatre.ca/shows/acts-of-faith/). ASL Interpretation and closed captioning will be available at every performance for audiences to access. Details on how to tune in to the live streamed performance will be sent out to registered audience members via email 24 hrs before the performance.
