Newstalk 1010 ends Rob and Doug Ford's radio show

Rob and Doug Ford will be taking a vow of radio silence, permanently. Newstalk 1010 announced this afternoon that The City, the mayor and his brother's Sunday radio show, has been cancelled by mutual agreement with the Fords.

Last week's program, which featured a repeat apology from Rob Ford, was the last episode.

"Fasten your seatbelt because we're going for a ride," Doug Ford said at the start of the first episode. "Folks, hang on," echoed Rob.

The City had been Fords' soap box since February 2012 and the source of several controversial moments. Recently, cllr. Paul Ainslie described the program as a "bully pulpit" after the pair harshly criticized his pro-LRT vote and filed a complaint with the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council.

Newstalk said the Fords would continue to be "welcome at any time as guests" on the station in a brief statement.
