Toronto Humane Society Autumn Adoption Affair Adopt-a-thon

I'm always finding about these things after they are over, but for once I have found out while there is still time.

The Autumn Adoption Affair Adopt-a-thon (boy, that's a mouthful) kick-started today and continues all weekend, Saturday 11-7 pm, Sunday 11-5 pm, at the Toronto Humane Society, 11 River Street. While there are no adoption fees, "donations are requested and appreciated." Bird adoptions follow on the Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

We took the kids and visited the 11 River Street site (by Queen St. East) a few months back. Totally put at ease by their no-pressure relaxed stance, we enjoyed the visit very much. I was surprised to find that they are in constant need of small "wish list" items, such as beds, toys, treats, and even Lysol or Clorox disinfecting wipes. Which reminds me, I have had a cat bed my cat refuses to sleep in (I think it's the colour) that I've been meaning to give to them.

Their website has been designed for easy navigation. Not only can you explore the variety of ways in which to help out, you can even write comments in their Blog Spot. They even had a reminder to reset our clocks this weekend. *Cough*

There were 105 visitors viewing the available pets online when I left the website. I hope it's a good sign many of these pets will find new homes this weekend.
