Parkdale Says Hello to Sew by The Hour

Posted by Tim / December 4, 2007

If there was any doubt we're living in the DIY decade, the Workroom may have just erased it. Located in the space that was once The Ground Level Cafe (they've moved a few blocks west), The Workroom is Toronto's first Sew by the Hour Space. For only $7 (less if you have a membership), you can claim a sewing machine and thread and do your thing. Or, take a class like learning how to sew a men's tie ($50, December 12th).

I recently stopped by 1340 Queen Street West to check out the space and speak with owner Karyn Valino. Watch the video profile below:

This is awesome! I suck at sewing, and I love the really open nature that this place seems to have.

Really smart business decisions too in offering free wireless, having a Facebook group and stocking issues of Craft; they seem to really know their client.

I've been working on opening something very similar here in Illinois. I wish her all the success.
