Perverts Party at the Gardiner Museum

Posted by Tim / September 7, 2006

20060907_gardiner.jpgAfter checking out Ken Loach's The Wind that Shakes the Barley at the Ryerson Theatre, I cabbed it up to Bloor and Avenue Road where I was hoping to fill up on Jamie Kennedy finger food at The Pervert's Guide To Cinema soiree at the Gardiner Museum.

Alas, dinner it was not to be. There was the occasional cone of signature fries floating around, but most of the snacks seemed destined for the VIP lounge where host Jie Matar was spotted ushering in leggy models.

I didn't stick around for long. Lighting was a bit bright - perhaps to ward off potential thieves from departing with valuable ceramics - and the cash bar was woefully slow and under-staffed. The highlight of the night was definitely the gyrating man outside, no doubt transfixed by the blue Jabba The Hut Palace character on stilts across the courtyard.

the lighting was WAY too bright in there...guh.

my favourite part of the night? the never-ending glamour shots of jie flashing behind the bar downstairs. the anne geddes-esque one where he's sitting in a white box in his birthday suit.

wow.

The bartenders were so slow....They treated beer bottles as if they were filled with nitro-glycerine. I wanted to yell, "pop that shit open, damn it!"

We loved the party. The only two complaints were the bright lights, understaffed bar, and the lack of more A-Listers. The VIP Room solved the first two problems completely.

The woman in blue, on stilts against the tree outside was marvellous!
