Philip Sparks Fall 2009Philip Sparks (interview here) showed his fall 2009 - 2010 collection in the historic Burroughes Building. It was the perfect indoor setting to capture the mood of Peter and the Wolf-Canadian style; the inspiration to this season. The rich wood floor and exposed brick projected an air of history.

I've been following the fall 2009 collection since the look book made waves across the menswear blogs in early February. The runway show definitely delivered its promise.

Philip delivered his signature suiting, flannel lined denim, crisp dress shirts, jodhpurs, fisherman inspired outwear and curling sweaters. He explored new fabrics like the paper cotton and luxury flannel. His Fisherman's coat is made from reissue vintage fabrics from Italy. It also comes in a wool version.

Philip SparksI managed to grab a quick interview with Philip Sparks after his Fall 2009 presentation at the Burroughes Building. We talked about his collection, LG Fashion Week and the market.

What is your inspiration for this season?

My inspiration was Peter and the Wolf. I was at the Hart House orchestra over a year ago in the Fall. I leaned over to Andrew and said I have this Peter and the Wolf inspiration. I put it aside and forgot about it because I had some other stuff on the go. So when it came to starting this Fall it was "oh Peter and the Wolf, that's right". But I didn't want to do Russian, I wanted to do Canadian.
