Is Evan Biddell's latest collection too crazy?
Canadian designers often play it safe. Evan Biddell is not one of those designers. Biddell's love of outrageous silhouettes, crazy patterns, and futuristic fabrics was celebrated in his most recent collection, shown to a packed house on Tuesday.
His pieces are definitely not to all tastes: I loved the hooded cartoon-print jumpsuits, baggy PVC pants, mini-dress with massive sleeves, tiger-print half-trench, and the short-shorts fashioned from a treebark-like "fabric." Especially lovely was the super-short silver lame dress with long skinny sleeves and a twist of fabric at the bottom.

Evan Biddell Like His Guys in Bodysuits and Girls in Flowy Fabric
Evan Biddell must watch a lot of track and field. How else to explain the bodysuit one of his male models strutted on the catwalk yesterday. I was half expecting Usain Bolt and the Jamaican team to come out next. But at least he doesn't do green and yellow. Silver, black and flowly fabrics punctuated this season's collection. Check out the video (above) and photos (below) for the complete look.

Video: Evan Biddell Fall 2009 at LG Fashion Week
Evan Biddell didn't shy away from starting his fashion show with a bang, leading with local fashion icon Stacie Mckenzie. But what was with the shoes? We counted not one, but two slip ups on the runway. After the show, chatter continued backstage where some suggested Biddell actually got a kick out of seeing some models not quite up for the challenge. Here's the video:

Evan Biddell handed out earplugs before his fall 2009 presentation. It was going to be loud apparently. I didn't end up using them. I gave them to Andrew of Now Magazine after reading his tweet about not having any. I was sitting right behind him. The music was loud but not as loud as I expected. I think that's just from the damage I did to them at concerts, raves and clubs in my youth. Toronto Fashion Week

Evan Biddell Speaks
This morning we caught up with former Project Runway winner Evan Biddell at his studio (near the Drake) to get a feel from him about tonight's runway show (7pm). Here's a brief snippet of what he had to say:
We'll have another Biddell interview a little later where we learn how he feels about local fashion royalty Joe Mimran.
