Gotstyle menswear owner Melissa Austria is the female Mel Gibson - she knows what men want. Her second story store, located on King West, is a shopping oasis for men and even includes a grooming salon. The male Fashion Week audience (who were inundated with women's lines throughout the week) finally got an interesting treat yesterday with Gotstyle's showcase of many of the Canadian designers they carry in the store.

Ula Zukowska had a great music set for her show yesterday in Toronto at LG Fashion Week - very Requiem for a Dream. Inspired by devastated mother Earth and despair in life's volumes, Ula explored various materials including taffeta, organza (I couldn't touch, therefore I think), nylon, jute and crinkled foil. Her Spring/Summer 2010 collection felt more like Winter-Fall mostly due to the neutral and earthy palette that was accompanied by lots of black.

Cheri Milaney's clothing isn't really my cup of tea. I know, her clientele is older, but I don't ever see my mother wanting to pick up any of these pieces. That said, her show yesterday under the tents at LG Fashion Week had a great score courtesy of DJ Vaneska. I actually danced a little bit, much to the amusement of those around me.

Aime designer Monica Mei helped me find the perfect dress for my very own escape to the Mediterranean this past summer. I wore the Aime Japanese silk gala dress in navy to a wedding, and have never felt anything so comfortable. After having such a great experience with her, I was adamant to grab a seat at her show yesterday. It featured music by DJ Vaneska, head pieces by Lara Vincent and jewelry by Psalms 91:1.

It seems every season Toronto Fashion Week features a designer inspired by the Caribbean (last season it was Carlton Brown). Yesterday, it was Rain Anthology led by designer Blaine Degannes who actually has no background in fashion. He's a former US Marine who developed an interest in fashion and trained under Flow by Tara Davis designer Tara Davis to learn the basics.

The tents were packed, and I opted out of attending Joe Fresh because it was already 9:30PM and I was sandwiched in between two people. Although I'm thin enough to squeeze my way out of a massive crowd, I must have lost some buttons on my jacket in the process. I headed towards the exit and began my journey towards Carte Blanche to check out Shadowplay - an event celebrating the unveiling of Pink Cobra's Spring/Summer 2010 collection.
