Thomas Spring/Summer 2011 (Video and Photos)

Posted by Briony / October 23, 2010

The boyfriends Thomas have once again brought us a weird, wonderful, and very inspiring collection of andro masterpieces of draping and design. They really have a way with cut that makes you want to swathe yourself in bolts and bolts of black linen, thin wools, and even the dreaded dhoti and super-skinny trousers.

Thomas Toronto Fashion Week(Speaking of dreaded: the music used during the show--a sort-of piercing, The Hunger soundtrack, Philip-Glass-on-PCP anger-drone--was pitched at level eardrum-splitting. You could hear the attendees shifting in their seats nervously and I pictured a mass head explosion, a la Scanners, with an abundance of big glasses, fur, feathers, and costume jewelry flying this way and that from the force of the fashion brains blowing apart from the horrible noise.)

Low-slung shorts draped in the back, twisted pants, a three-tiered cloak, tight-ass leather bicycle shorts, and trousers with strategic slits all made attendees look twice, while the blazer with built-in hood and scarf and the sexy sheer black tee have a little more crossover appeal for the fashion-lover looking for something a little less out-there.

Thomas Toronto Fashion Week(Outré your style? Try on a massive top with a drooping, zippered sack-front that could easily fit a Balenciaga tote or two's worth of stuff).

It may sometimes look a little overly avant-garde for everyday wear, but that's why I love Thomas - they dare to deviate.
