Joe Fresh not so fresh

Joe Fresh was a bit of an odd show this year. First of all, attendees were issued a stern warning to not walk on the runway whatsoever, and had a phalanx of Fashion Week volunteers guarding it from offending stilettos. The crowd was excited for some sort of spectacle (a hologram runway? a skating-rink runway?), and then...nothing happened.

It was instead a standard runway show with an unheralded Arlenis Sosa as the celebrity model and plenty of, surprisingly, ho-hum clothes. Say it ain't so, Joe!

I usually quite enjoy Joe's shows - the clothes are simple, fun, and accessible, and carry that bit of Mimran magic and budget-friendly flair. But this time around, I found the usual fresh detailing and cute cuts missing. There was nothing I'd want to pick up during my next Loblaw's visit (well, except for the mesh tops: those were pretty neat).

Like tomorrow's delivery of produce, there will always be more Joe, thank goodness. Let's hope it's fresher than this.
