Denis Gagnon returns to LG Fashion Week
Denis Gagnon is one of my favourite Canadian designers, if not my absolute favourite. His innovative cuts, fabrics, and details make his shows a delight, and they're all the sweeter for being so rare. He hasn't showed a proper Fashion Week show in Toronto in quite a few seasons, and it was a real pleasure having him back on the LG runway.
Or, should I say, gracing the runway. The creations Gagnon sent out were actually breathtaking. He's still on his slinky twenties kick, including luxurious swingy Art Deco-style gowns of shimmering silk cord in many shades, including ivory, celadon, and black-and-white and slate-and-copper ombré. I covet.
Gagnon's other go-to style--that of killer Parisian biker chic--showed up beautifully in a nautical striped turtleneck dress with unique gathering and ruching, wide-leg pinstripe trousers, mesh and leather minidresses, and a few pieces sporting a tough zig-zag or chevron pattern.
As always, merci, Denis. Merci.
