LOVAS at Toronto Fashion Week
LOVAS' Wesley Badanjak will make you feel like a woman - he'll hug your curves, show off your assets and you'll never turn back. Who better to serve as his muse than his paternal grandmother - likely held high on a pedestal, this woman inspired one of the most well composed collections of the week.
Grape was the standout colour of the day, adding richness and sophistication to double knit dresses. Just look at the tailoring - an emphasis on figure showcased impeccable craftsmanship. Grape also coloured a silk charmeuse Cici shirt that inspired one of the most confident model walks of the week. No wobble, all throttle.
Winter whites took us to cleaner pastures. 'Wanda' and 'Marla' jackets were creamy and rich, constructed beautifully to form a slim silhouette. They fit like a glove - a perfect way to start the show.
Tell me more, Wesley. What do women want?
Answer: to party
LOVAS offered a strong selection of figure flattering fĂȘte favourites for the casual fly on the wall to the papp snap-worthy primadonna.
Splatter paint silk closed the show and a chiffon 'Ella' dress boasted casual design details paired with a rockin' flapper skirt. Button detailing on the bodice reminded me of a comfortable Henley - you don't always have to suffer for fashion and LOVAS proves it.
For the it girl in you, Badanjak offers a slick and chic micro-sequin Georgia dress that catches the light in a way that will make you glow. For a more understated, look, check out the Georgia sequin shirt with flowing sleeves. You'll find that you will make a statement either way.
The only miss that I found was a pair of hand knit wool cable leggings. Sorry, but I will never get on board with cable knit leggings - unflattering, bulky and unrefined. Not the rest though, because Wesley is a god to me this season. Colour: check. Fit: check.
Counting my saviours of Toronto Fashion Week... LOVAS makes 2.
