Pink Tartan at Toronto Fashion Week
Pink Tartan? My friend wanted to know how the show was but as I began to answer I was startled to find that I couldn't remember a single piece. Even during
the presentation, I found my eyes glazing over as trench after trench glided down the runway.
That's the thing with Pink Tartan - their clothes are very nice, and very elegant, but not particularly memorable, I find.
I definitely had to turn to my notes on this one, but, yes, there were actually some treasures, I found: the opening ensemble of a ivory silk bustier dress worn over a slouchy black-and-white striped tank especially was an instant styling inspiration.
Also cute were the black-and-white sequined boatneck sweaters, navy boyfriend blazer, gray matte sequined pants, a loose halter-neck romper, and a timeless black satin shift with a high chiffon neck.
But none of them left enough of an impression with me this time. I'd wear a big chunk of the collection - which is saying a lot for me - but they weren't memorable, high-fashion pieces. In this unstable day and age, maybe the former is more important than the latter, but I still found myself hungering for a few more risks.
