Brandon Dwyer at LG Fashion Week Sorta Feels Like South Beach
Brandon Dwyer's collection feels like it was meant for a holiday. On this final day of LG Fashion Week it's blustery outside, but with this collection on the runway it feels like South Beach.
A tangerine dream of a dress floats around the body, secured only by bold white and orange bandage straps a la Leger. Teal and cream tunics with drawstrings or tied belts fit the bill for laidback sun-soaking. But this former Project Runway Canada contestant's sense of style isn't lost when the sun goes down.
Dwyer's corseted numbers are all structure up top, with cool, floating layers on the bottom. One such style in the lightest of pinks looks ready for the party circuit. Another with bejeweled cups shocks the people sitting around me. Okay, maybe they're not for every party.
Regardless, the show closer is as grand as it gets. A black and white strapless gown is a full-skirted take on the designer's evening dresses. But for me the highlight was a cream, v-necked gown embellished with crystals. Slinking down the runway, the model may as well have been walking in the sand.
