In Photos: Lundstrom Fall 2009
The Laparka is back in full force. The Linda Lundstrom fall 2009 show (video here) was sort of a return to the scene for the brand. Last year Lundstrom was going out of business and many fans of the Laparka were upset. Many of us talked about how many designers and retailers were going to be victims to the recession in the next few years. However, Linda was down but not out. Eleventh Floor apparel came in and bought the company and made Linda the head designer.
Linda knows her customer and the show was a reflection of that. There were many variations of the Laparka shown. The Lundstrom signature jersey dress made many an appearance for the fans. There were a lot more tailored pieces on the runway including cocoon dresses, skinny pants, sheath dresses and even a jumpsuit.
There were a lot of fur accessories on the runway. It seemed every model had a fur head muff or scarf. Of course, the Laparka has that signature fur wrapped hood which I think are the executed to perfect. The amount of fur and it's placement on the head are perfect. Lundstrom also provide faux fur options.

After the show, Tim asked me what I thought. I admitted I enjoyed it. I like shows that have a theme and stick to it. Except for some pieces with beading the show was very cohesive. Lundstrom has a particular style that the fans have come to love and she hasn't forgotten that.
Then he asked me the killer question, would I wear any of it? I always find this question interesting. I appreciate fashion for many things and whether I would wear any of it doesn't always come into play. I spend a lot of time pouring over the collections of the fashion weeks around the world. There are many collections I love to death but wouldn't wear any of it. That hasn't stopped my enjoyment or my appreciation of the work. So my answer to Tim was truthful, I would wear a Laparka but probably not much else.

I bought my purple plum winter coat in 1995 and it's still keeping me warm in Bagley, MN where it gets 40 degrees below zero weather! It is two coats in one. The inner coat is 100% virgin wool and can be worn in fall and spring. It's the full length maxi coat and I love it!!!!!! As a retired special ed. teacher in Cass Lake, MN, it kept me warm all these years!!!!! Gwen Dougherty
