Lucian Matis Gives Good Headgear on Last Day of Toronto Fashion Week
Lucian Matis brought his trademark ethereal slink to the runways on the final day of Fashion Week, his dainty models floating down the catwalk in a mist of peach, silver, gold, and white.
Matis' pieces were especially elaborate this season; many of the dresses were comprised of several different fabric types and complex draping. (It definitely made me ponder the price-point on the line, due to the construction efforts involved.)
The majority of the line--if not all--was strictly event dressing pieces, from the big-sleeved blouse with tight jewel-encrusted sleeves and gown with a swathe of butter-yellow palettes thrown over one shoulder to a shimmering silver column with a low back and bejeweled straps, and a shift made from equal parts silver sequins, pink silk, and nude chiffon.
Lucian's show was also my last show at Fashion Week, and what better way to end it than with his lovely stunner of a white bespangled ballgown with a delicately shredded skirt?
Magic.
