10 places in Toronto to get free stuff on your birthday

Posted by Robyn Urback / January 14, 2011

Birthday Toronto FreeCelebrating a birthday in Toronto just got better because there's plenty of free stuff to be had. Yes, free! These 10 birthday freebies will surely make becoming one year older in Toronto a little more enjoyable. After all, birthdays--at least for me--just haven't been the same since loot bags were unanimously deemed "uncool." Damn fourth-graders. In any case, it's time to bring back the swag.

Cashing in on some of these free birthday deals offer a great way to try out some local businesses in and around the city. Some require that you bring a (paying) friend--but hey, it's your birthday...there are few other days when guilt can be so effectively applied.

Here are the top 10 birthday freebies in Toronto, in no particular order:

Free Yoga Class

Offered by Kula Toronto, 304 Brunswick Avenue. Call beforehand to let them know.

Free Coffee

Offered by Jet Fuel Coffee, 519 Parliament Street. Like everything else at Jet Fuel, this is pretty relaxed. You may have to show I.D. to prove it's actually your birthday.

Free Admission to Ontario Place

If your birthday is during Ontario Place's summer operating season, you can get a free Play All Day Pass by showing I.D. at the Guest Services Pavilion.

Free Meal

Offered by Commensal Vegetarian Restaurant, 655 Bay Street (entrance on Elm). Come on your birthday at you'll get a free lunch or dinner if your friends spend a minimum of $30 at the buffet.

Free Round of Golf

Offered by Bushwood Golf Club, 10905 Reesor Road, Markham. If you don't mind the trek, sign up for Bushwood's eClub and get a free round of golf up to one week before or one week after your birthday.

Free (or cheap) Dry Cleaning

Offered by Parkers Dry Cleaners, several locations. Register to become a member on their website and you'll get a $10 off coupon for signing up, and other $10 coupon sent to you on your birthday if you provide them with the day.

Free Buffet

Offered by Imperial Buffet, 3120 Dixie Road, Mississauga. Receive a free buffet dinner on your birthday with the purchase of two adult buffets and valid I.D.

Free Admission to Medieval Times

Nothing says 'happy birthday' like jousting knights and a chicken dinner, right? Sign up for the Birthday Fellowship online and you'll receive free admission on your birthday with the purchase of one regular-priced admission.

Free Dance Class

Offered by Java Dance, 22 Dorchester Avenue. Receive a free dance class if your birthday is three days before or three days after the inclusive Sunday evening lesson.

Free Gelato

Offered by Hotel Gelato, 532 Eglinton Avenue. Sign up for their newsletter and get a free gelato on your birthday.

Fat Tony's Top-Shelf Escorts give out free hand jobs on your birthday. All you have to do is book an appointment with an escort and then once you have received the free hand job, jump out the back of the van that you rented and run away cackling with your pants around your ankles. I heard about it on Groupon.

Actually, Mandarin long since stopped offering their birthday deal. They now have no discounts, except for children and seniors at the buffet.

Yes,you can still have a free plate at Mother Tuckers on your birthday.I was there on Feb.18th (my birthday)and went an had three plates, but they do charge for coffee and pop,so bring a little money with you for that.Call them to make sure if you don't beleive this.I think you can find their number on their webpage.

www.dynamite.ca - you get a coupon emailed to you that says you'll 'get 25% off the item you've been wishing for'. You have to print the coupon and bring it to a Dynamite store. It's valid 'within 7 days of your birthday'.
I know it's not a freebie, but if you like this store it's a good deal!
:)
Also, Sephora's birthday gift is valid within 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after your birthday!

To clarify past comments; Aveda Canada gives you $10 off your purchase in your birthday month and Benihana - the restaurant in the Royal York hotel is NOT affiliated with the chain in the US for the free $30 birthday certificate hence you cannot use this deal in Canada.

Casey's, max $14 value, you must purchase a drink and be accompanied by a paying guest.

Shopsey’s was always my favourite but so far this year my dad didn't get his coupon (April 4th birthday) no response from customer service either. That was a great deal since you got a free meal and dessert - no limit on value and it was good for 4 weeks - not just on your actual birthday.

Boston Pizza will give you a free pasta meal OR a free dessert – sign up via email.

I thought most of the things listed in the article were kind of lame. STarbucks, Aveda and Sephora have the best birthday offers I find. Ontario Place??? I'm pretty sure this place is shut down since the province can't afford to keep it open. Maybe it should be taken off the list.
