The top 50 new patios in Toronto for 2014

Posted by Staff / July 3, 2014

best toronto patiosNew Toronto patios are in abundance this year, and unlike last year, it seems the weather is going to cooperate and let us enjoy them. From rooftop to backyard, courtyard, sidewalk and everything in between, this list round-up patios that opened since we published the 2013 edition of this list. Most are brand new this year while a handful opened up at the end of last summer. Either way, they're all worth seeking out for a pint, people watching or just to chill out. On the go? Be sure to download our patio guide app for Android or iPhone or click on over to our Toronto Patio Guide site.

Check out our list and photo gallery of the top 50 new patios in Toronto for 2014.

I prefer these lists when you have a map with it, rather than just a photo gallery.

Hey Wendy, if you click the second icon at the top right of the slideshow, it'll open up a map for you.

There IS a map, showing the locations. The upside down teardrop icon shows you the spots in your hood :) Take your time with these blogs folks, you're all in so much of a rush to attack this site. Take 2 extra seconds to navigate it!

We use these photo galleries selectively when we have what we think is compelling, original photo-based content. You'll most often see them when we're covering large festivals or events. In this case we also thought a gallery was warranted. We spent lots of time traversing the city shooting all the patios and we wanted to present them in a large format so everyone could see what they look like. We didn't think a text-heavy post or using small photos was appropriate (or a better option here).

The cover photo is of the rooftop patio at Harvest Kitchen on Harbord Street. It is a lovely, low-key spot. We have eaten there twice and intend to return. The beautiful mural was painted by Sae Kimura. You can see more of her work at http://esalalamu.jimdo.com/.

The criteria for this list is, as the title implies, "NEW PATIOS".

Gabbys has been around for yonks.
