Toronto Raptors Jose Calderon Chasing Free-throw Record

Posted by Jerrold Litwinenko / January 24, 2009

Toronto Raptors point guard Jose Calderon is chasing the NBA record for most consecutive free-throws. As of today, January 24th, he now sits at 83 in a row, 14 shy of tying the all-time record of 97, held by now retired Michael Williams of the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Toronto Star's Doug Smith and videographer Randy Risling had a chat with Calderon:

Little known fact: In 1999, Michael Williams played two games with the Toronto Raptors before retiring from the NBA.

he's right, all this attention now is going to jinx him!

this and bargnani's recent non-sucking are the two lonely bright spots in a really disappointing season

Hi,

Fun clip.

Good luck Jose!

BTW, the Star reporter featured on the YouTube clip is Doug Smith, not Randy Risling.

I met Calderon a few summers back, just after he won the World Championship with Spain. I shook his hand, gave him a congratulations, and let me tell you, I think I know his secret...super soft hands, maybe the softest I've ever shaken.
