Argo Apathy

So with yet another win this weekend, the Argos are currently in first place with an excellent chance to clinch the East division. Hurrah!
*crickets*
Why is it that the CFL -- outside of a small hardcore contingent of followers -- registers as a collective yawn from Toronto sports fans? Spare me your cries of "bush league" and "CFL are teh sux" -- the team is playing excellent football and most sports fans (caught like a deer in the NFL headlights) couldn't give a hoot.
It's almost like we as Canadians have an inferiority complex to the U.S. Forget almost, we do. If that American expansion experiment didn't fizzle out a few years back , I bet Torontonians would say that the CFL is teh kewl.
At least give the Argos a chance.

I suppose one reason for us turning our backs on the Boatmen is the league's talent pool. Damon Allen (pictured above) plays in Canada, not because he likes maple syrup and one less down, but because no team south of the 49 hasn't ever considered letting him play QB. In the States, he's a converted safety, but up here he's a star. In Canada, Jeff Garcia was one of the top players of the past decade. In the US, he's barely a blip on a disastrous team. That isn't to say there is anything wrong with that, but it is clearly an inferior product (talent wise).
I remember that the old argument was that the Argos were a crappy team (which they were a few years back). But now they have a good team and still no one cares...
