The Wagging Tail


The Wagging Tail doggy daycare in the Upper Beaches has fun-loving and knowledgeable staff that make sure your dog's day away from home keeps them busy and having a good time. They also host sleepover parties (aka overnight boarding). And should your pup need a good wash down, they offer professional grooming as well.

I took my puppy there the other day for a groom after I read about them here. What a disappointment!! I spent 15 minutes insisting I did not want my dog shaved. did she listen? I kept saying trimming and clipping and even told her about this dog of the same breed that I saw was shaved and I absolutely did not want that and she kept saying "I'll shave him here and I'll shave him there" so after I thought I had made her understand no shaving I left and when I came back surely enough he was shaved in the dead of Winter (January)!!! I was so disappointed I could barely hide it.

To their credit, she didn't charge me for it. But you should see how my dog shivers when I walk him now. I don't know how bad other places this blog reviews are, or what your criteria for "best in Toronto" is, but this place certainly does not meet my standards.

My JRT was groomed there yesturday. What an awesome job she did! He has always been a bit of a handful to groom, but she successfully did all the things we cannot, including trimming his feet (which has always been a difficult challange). We were so impressed by his shiney coat and we love that he abolotely is not shedding anymore. We are really pleased that she took the time to work with our boy and curb his fear of the blow dryer. My dog also got the luxury of hanging out with the rest of the dogs in Daycare until he was picked up. Im happy to say that he was both very clean and very tired when we got home. We will definately be returning soon, great job!

I've had my dog groomed there 3 times.
She loves it there. She loved how everyone fussed over her and she really enjoyed playing with the other dogs.

I use the pick up and drop off, very reasonably priced. They didn't even mind bringing along an overprotective doggie-mommy for the first visit! I had to make sure you know!

When I would spy on her through the front window, she always looked like she was having so much fun. If she wasn't playing she was snuggled up to a new pal.

The outdoor playground is dream. She didn't need much coaxing go run the course.

Highly recommended.

I would never put my dog in this daycare. Just last week a black sheppard/lab cross "escaped" (I kept the craigslist ad) and this would be fine if it was the first incident but sadly its not.

I also heard a story how they left a Beagle out overnight in the backyard in the fall/winter because they "forgot" he was out there (but this was a story I heard at the dog park, so I don't know if its true)

I don't know how the place is still open - the owner is a drunk who can't even take care of his own dogs let alone other peoples and the staff is incompetant.

It's true. I actually saved the craigslist post about the sheppard who escaped and I can forward it to you. It has all the information about what happened. I don't know if the ad was posted directly by Waggin Tails or by the owner of the dog but the dog was found and the ad was removed. I'm pretty sure it was by the Waggin Tails though and the owner probably never knew the dog had escaped and was in danger of being hit by a car etc.

They don't care about the dogs in their care. They only care about making money.

I hope more people step forward and post about their bad experiences because I know there are numerous people who I have spoken to that have horror stories about this place but sadly, not many people will take the time to go online and write about them.

My dog is 18 years old, so I'm pretty careful about who I trust to groom and look after him while we're away. I've always been happy with TWT and they way they care for my boy. I can always tell he's had a good time because when I pick him up he is in no hurry to leave. I've left him for grooming several times and have been very pleased with the results. He is a long, fine haired dog and I know how difficult it can be to work out the knots that can develop in his coat. Occasionally that means that the groomer may have to trim more than we thought, but better that than the pain it would cause him trying to brush out some of those tougher matted areas.

As far as I'm concerned TWT provides very good care and I would not hesitate to leave my boy with them again.

I took my Puggle puppy to The Wagging Tail a few weeks ago for boarding. First off the pricing was good for one night of boarding, because other places I searched were over 40$ for one night!! The staff was very friendly and seemed to have genuine interest and knowledge about how they should introduce my puppy (who is not yet fixed) to the other dogs. They were very gentle with him and allowed him to get to know the dogs on his own time. When he came back to us he was extremely happy and tired from all the playing he did, which benefitted us in the long run, because we ourselves had a long weekend as well. We were very happy with our experience there and will definitely be bringing him there again on our next night or weekend away. Thanks Wagging Tail for taking such good care of our baby!

I have been going to The Wagging Tail for a few years now for occasional boarding and daycare. I often pass the shop and peek in the window because I work down the street, and I just love the way they treat my dog, and the way they treat me! I see through the window or the fence the great time he has wrestling with the other dogs or getting a good ear scratching from the staff. When I pick him up his tail is always wagging, and he is always sooo TIRED! It's amazing! And the best part of all, the staff are knowledgable and they don't let him do whatever he wants, they make sure he's being a good boy. I wouldn't trust anybody else with my dog.
