Downtown CameraDowntown Camera strikes a good balance between mega-stores like Henry's and Vistek and smaller, more service-oriented shops. The well-stocked shop is mostly attitude-free, and equipped to handle the needs of amateurs and pros alike. It also doesn't hurt that they tend to price items just below their nearby competition.

Downtown Camera years ago had the best used camera dept at the back of the store. If you wanted 35mm rangefinder Canons or Nikons or more exotic Robot or Leica they were the place to go.

They still do-there is a gray plastic book that has a ton of used cameras for sale. Just ask for a guy named Ken.

Downtown Camera (or was it called, Toronto Camera), if memory serves, were located on Yonge Street back in the 1960s. That is where I puchased all of my darkroom chemicals, papers and my Durst enlarger.

Toronto Camera is where I got all my darkroom stuff as well. I had a Besler. Downtown Camera on Queen is a totally different place. There was some reconstruction I believe in the building they were in (Downtown Camera)at some point & I think they may have moved next door or something (maybe not!)I remember the video game place that was next door to Toronto Camera. I think neither are there anymore.

funland, long gone. And the camera store too... a bit further up is Aden I believe.
