Sushi tasted like chemicals. Disgusting. Could not even force it down. Ick.
Another sushi joint! Jus over that next hill.: Why is everyone having the same problem with Sushi Island?I invite all the Bold and Adventurous to try Sushi D. it's automatically on my good list because they have "fancy schmancy" rolls on their all-you-can-eat menu. Usually all-you-can-eat Japanese is filled with the fairly boring typically standard Japanese food items. At Sushi D, pretty much everything on their ala carte menu is available for all-you-can-eat. SCORE!You must try the spicy scallop roll especially on a hot humid day. It somehow has a refreshing cool taste. You're probably thinking I'm speaking crazy, but you'll know exactly what I mean when you have this roll. One of the other items I thoroughly enjoyed was the rock shrimp. It was deep fried to a perfect crispy and tossed in some kind of garlic sauce. Deep fried and garlic are also known as my lovers. Hence why, I devoured the shrimps without taking a breath of air.The staff was friendly and helpful - they made suggestions when we were in a stump. The decor is cute, but classy. The restaurant is intimate. And the food is creatively tasty.A must to try menu:- Treasure island 3 orders - Tuna Tatataki (beautiful presentation) - Rock Shrimps 3 orders - Teriyaki beef stuffed with Japanese mushrooms. -Tempura Ice Cream with Kahlua coffee liquor.I guess this place is for people that don't understand Sushi Island on College (like me)Great competitor for Sushi Island. Sushi D is definitely a joint I'll be checking out again!
I find that most reviews you find on the internet are bias because people only review when they've had a bad experience. People hardly review when they've had a great experience. I'm going to try and even the playing field here a little. My partner and I went to sushi D for Valentines day dinner. We were seated as soon as we walked in the door. Serving staff was extremely prompt (we got our complimentary green tea within 20 seconds of sitting down). Everyone seems to complain about the serving staff. I had no problems. Very friendly, answered our questions and we were able to place at least 6 seperate ayce orders. In the end we had to tell the waitress "Thank you very much, but I think we've had MORE than enough tonight". Our food came extremely fast and it was all very fresh. Our tempura was very light and fluffy and extremely tasty. They also have a large selection on the ayce menu. basically anything you could possibly want, is on that menu (Try the deep fried scallops, oh my god! And the "D"-Roll, YUM!) I would definitly go back again. I would say that this is one of the best ayce places i've been to so far (it' a tossup between Sushi D and Kuni Sushi-Ya... I just can't choose).
The best all you can eat sushi deal in town.

Sushi D
There are lots of all you can eat sushi places in Toronto, but D is the winner among them. The staff is really attentive, so you can actually order a half dozen times instead of being ignored by busy servers after the first or second round. And they don't look at you like you're an awful glutton if you ask them to bring you a second (or fourth) round of the delicious deep fried scallops. Plus, the menu is really varied and they don’t skimp on usually pricy items like sashimi. My absolutely favourite thing on the menu is this incredible dish called “rock shrimp†that just has to be tried to be believed. The flavour is sweet, savoury, crunchy and melt-in-your-mouth soft all at the same time. Plus, at least four kinds of ice cream are included in the all you can eat deal, so if you've got a craving for a scoop of banana alongside a scoop of green tea, you can have it. Twice!
